Why does BLUE BLUE use vintage power looms for its denim?
Answer
BLUE BLUE uses vintage power looms because they create a fabric texture modern looms cannot. Based on late-18th-century technology, they run slowly and are far less efficient, but we keep weaving our denim on them in Kojima (Okayama).

We use vintage power looms because they produce a fabric texture that modern looms cannot. Built on technology dating back to the late 18th century, these looms run slowly, placing less stress on the yarn and creating fabric with a full, expressive depth. They are far less efficient, and both the working machines and the skilled operators who run them continue to decline in number, but we remain committed to weaving our denim on them in Kojima (Okayama).
