Is SEILIN & Co. clothing made in Japan?

Nearly all SEILIN & Co. clothing is made in Japan, from BLUE BLUE JAPAN's natural indigo dyeing to BLUE BLUE's selvedge denim woven on vintage power looms. A small number of items are made overseas; each product page lists the country of origin.

What is indigo dyeing?

Indigo dyeing refers to two methods: natural dyeing using the plant ai and synthetic dyeing with artificial dye. At BLUE BLUE JAPAN, both methods are crafted by hand for unique texture and color.

What is a vintage power loom?

A vintage power loom is an electrically or steam-powered weaving machine from the late 18th century, known for producing uniquely textured fabric. Despite their rarity, we continue to use them in Kojima, Japan for our denim.

What is selvedge denim?

Selvedge denim is a type of denim woven on traditional shuttle looms, featuring a finished edge that prevents unraveling. It is valued for its unique texture, depth, and character that develops over time.
